Knitting
Ladies from Mt. Olive and Messiah are now knitting small hats to be donated to the Mercy Hospital "preemie" ward. A new mother chooses the hat she would like for her baby. The hats, made out of a variety of yarns and colors, are just one small way to let her know that someone is thinking about her. Many of us are "beginners", so join us and have fun learning a new skill while sending a message of love to a new mother!! Slippers for shut-ins and prayer shawls are our newest projects. For more information e-mail: Jeanette Carper or Judy Wilgenbusch
Welcome
As our logo suggests, we are not just knitting. Our projects continue to multiply as we carry on our mission with our stitchery. Come join us. All are welcome!
Quilting
Every other Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. women of Mt. Olive and Messiah meet at Messiah to cut, piece, and tie quilts. The quilts are given to Lutheran World Relief and needy organizations in the Des Moines area. If you are interested in learning a new skill or using an old one, please join us. If you want to help in another capacity, you may donate old sheets, blankets, or pieces of fabric. For more information e-mail: Jeanette Carper
Hats for Diana's
Angels
We are also knitting very small white hats for the "Diana's Angels Project". This is an important ministry that gives comfort to many.
Diana's
Angels Project
Did you know that many parents whose premature babies die need to shop toy stores for burial clothing? In response to this need, the Tuesday women's Bible study group of St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa, has organized the "Diana's Angels Project". The purpose of the group is to sew and package garments in several sizes and styles which will fit tiny infants. These are donated to area hospitals where they are given to families facing these tragic losses. For information e-mail: Michele Banwart or call 515-201-5174
